MAKING SPACES: LONDON FESTIVAL OF ARCHITECTURE EVENT
We had such a fun and stimulating evening hosting a Studio Late on a warm Thursday evening in mid-June, as part of the London Festival of Architecture.
Inspired by our explorations into healthy placemaking, we asked artist and poet, Sophie Herxheimer, to lead a collage workshop on the theme of 'home'. What makes a space feel like home? Is it the comfort of objects, the rhythm of daily life, the connection to others? It was a chance to think with eye, hand and instinct.
By 6pm, the first enthusiastic snippers had already taken their seats in the Cabin, which had been adorned by Sophie with her colourful collages, and very quickly, the place was rammed, scraps were flying and magnificent collages were being composed in a whirl of deep concentration and playfulness. Each made their own unique foray into what home means to them and the results were wonderful.
Thank you to everyone who came and to Sophie Herxheimer for sharing her collage wisdom and glittery scraps! It was hugely inspiring to see just how powerful group collaging can be for collaboration, ideation and fostering a sense of pure joy.
