We are very pleased to see the first phase of our masterplan designed with Hutchinson & Partners for St George and Sainsbury’s Silk Stream regeneration project has been realised. The highly anticipated, state-of-the-art 43,000 sq ft supermarket is now open, housed in a very fine colonnade by Hutchinson & Partners. Another important milestone is the arrival of the first occupants into the homes that sit atop the supermarket on a podium garden.

Makower Architects and Hutchinson & Partners worked seamlessly on this masterplan and now construction for phase two, which includes our design of a new park and three buildings as well as opening up of the Silk Stream, is fast approaching.

Located at the confluence of the Silk Stream and Edgware Road, and a short walk from Hendon Station, Silk Stream transforms what was a standard big-box store surrounded by tarmac into a low-carbon, nature-rich neighbourhood of 1,300 new homes set within a 2-acre neighbourhood park with a wilderness walk along the Silk Stream; all playing their part in the wider green network of Hendon.
