Heather Macey is a Director and Trustee at Makower Architects. She shares leadership responsibilities with Tim Makower, guiding the firm’s strategic vision and day-to-day operations. Prior to this, Heather ran the residential studio at John McAslan and Partners as director, as well as the initiatives studio which developed pro-bono research projects for social value.
Heather oversees a wide range of projects across public and private sectors, including masterplans, mixed-use developments, commercial, cultural, and residential schemes. She has extensive experience in the adaptive reuse of culturally significant spaces, such as historic buildings and markets, with a particular focus on design that supports health and community resilience.
She is a founding member of Architects Aware!, a London-based think tank dedicated to addressing the homeless crisis and a Trustee and Co-Lead of Homestead, a pioneering supported-housing model that brings together therapeutic design, health innovation and place-based care to support individuals with psychosis.
